Celebrating Women’s Day 2024: Investing in Women for Progress

In a vibrant and empowering celebration, the Diocesan Anniversary of SGHs in Social Service Committee converged with the global observance of Women’s Day on March 8th. This unique amalgamation of milestones was not just a commemoration but a profound statement of empowerment and recognition.

The event commenced with the lively rhythms of the women’s singari mela, setting the stage for an inspiring journey ahead. Mrs. Latha Nicholas, a distinguished Railway Athlete from Tamil Nadu, graced the occasion as the special guest, infusing the atmosphere with her remarkable presence. Most Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Neto, Archbishop of the Tvm Latin Archdiocese, delivered a poignant homily, emphasizing the pivotal role of women in society and the Church.

Among the highlights of the day was the acknowledgment of remarkable women achievers. From block panchayat presidents to recipients of state-level sports awards, and from literary laureates to pioneering entrepreneurs, their contributions were celebrated with utmost reverence. Each accolade bestowed served as a testament to the indomitable spirit and multifaceted talents of women within the Latin community.

In a significant gesture towards economic empowerment, a ceremony for the disbursement of DRI loans at low interest rates from the Bank of India took place. This initiative aimed to nurture aspiring entrepreneurs, providing them with the financial means to realize their dreams and contribute to economic growth.

The theme of Women’s Day 2024, “Invest in Women – Accelerate Progress,” resonated deeply throughout the proceedings. Beyond mere rhetoric, it encapsulated a collective commitment to bolstering women’s leadership at every echelon of society and fostering a conducive environment for women entrepreneurs to thrive.

As Miss Tressia Louis, the First Runner Up of the Golden Face of South India 2024, extended her heartfelt congratulations to all women, the spirit of solidarity and sisterhood permeated the gathering. It was a moment of reflection, celebration, and above all, a call to action.

In essence, the event was more than just a commemoration; it was a reaffirmation of the unwavering resolve to champion gender equality, empower women, and pave the way for a more inclusive and progressive society. As we look towards the future, let us heed the rallying cry to invest in women and accelerate the journey towards a brighter, more equitable world.
